About Us

Who we are

The following individuals are the leading group of friends who have volunteered to create, edit, and support this website, and who are spearheading efforts to hold this Board accountable for actions that we consider to be seriously problematic:

We are longtime members, current members, and parents of junior members (and some now former members).

We believe in the RDTC mission. We want tennis for all, no matter how good you are, or how young or old you are, no matter where you are from, what language you speak, who you know at the club, or how long you have been with the club.

We believe the club should be a place for community, for friendship, for fair play. A space all tennis players can enjoy.

We believe that all persons should be treated fairly and respectfully.

We believe that leadership should govern with integrity and foster the growth of both the community and the sport of tennis in an inclusive and positive environment.

We believe that leadership should follow their own Bylaws and governance policies, that they should honour their fiduciary duties and act in good faith.

We believe that the current Board is violating the core values of the RDTC and damaging the tennis community in Red Deer.

Our Commitment to Accuracy and Accountability

We believe in accuracy of information and clear communication.

Everything included in this website is factually accurate, to the best of our knowledge.

Every statement we make in these webpages can be backed up with examples, evidence and documentation.

We have tried to be descriptive about the events we recount. We will not exaggerate or be “dramatic”. Every numerical term chosen has been deliberate. For every use of terms like “one or more”, “a few”, “several” or “numerous” (incidences or occurrences) that we mention in these pages, we have careful notes about the exact incidences and examples we are referring to in order to ensure that the numerical term used is accurate and that we can defend both its use and the comment made.

We have sought legal counsel to review the content of this website in our attempts to represent all material and individuals fairly.

Donate to our legal defence fund.

The Red Deer Tennis Club has sued the Simon Tennis School for “damages” related to the contract termination. They have also sued us (the six individuals behind the Friends of Red Deer Tennis initiative) to stop our efforts to bring transparency, accountability and public awareness to their actions. Help us stand up to unjust and reprehensible behaviour by contributing to our legal defence fund. Your donations will be used to help sustain these lawsuits, to hold these Board directors accountable for their actions, and to help create a safer, healthier, and more respectful environment for tennis in Red Deer.
